Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of current specialty experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) required Must-Have: EPIC charting experience required Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry specialty. The position involves floating to various oncology medical-surgical units as needed. Ensure the safety of staff in a secure corrections unit environment. Oncology experience preferred but not required. If you accept a rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on departmental needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4 weeks, but changes are not guaranteed. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for progressive care unit, and 1:4-5 for medical-surgical unit. Daily census averages around 12 patients. Patients will have a variety of oncology diagnoses, including active treatments and history of cancer. Expect to manage diverse conditions such as COPD, sepsis, and pneumonia. The role requires interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and unit-based telemetry monitoring. You will also engage in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration. Support services available include pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. This unit operates in a locked corrections facility and involves working closely with corrections officers. Candidates must be aware of compliance requirements and credentialing processes.
