Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required License: Current state license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: First-time travelers accepted, prefer travel experience Weekend requirement: 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks Must have full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no gaps in employment greater than 90 days Reference Requirement: 2 references required; one from a supervisor level or above Description: The registered nurse will work in a medical-surgical/telemetry unit with an average daily census of 29 patients. The unit has 30 rooms and beds, catering primarily to adult and geriatric populations. The nurse will be responsible for patient care that includes monitoring cardiac telemetry and managing dysrhythmias. Key skills include the use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care, blood product administration, and IV management. The nurse will provide care for patients with various diagnoses including sepsis, wounds, congestive heart failure, cardiovascular accidents, and post-operative care. Isolation precautions and wound care management are also part of the responsibilities. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Candidates should be comfortable floating within the service line and to sister facilities as needed. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring strong assessment and critical thinking skills. Proper adherence to infection control and safety protocols is essential. The nurse will utilize EPIC for charting and must be familiar with telemetry monitoring systems. This position does not require on-call duties. Orientation and training on equipment and protocols will be provided.
