Job Opportunity – Medical Oncology Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: May 4, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts; variable weekend coverage based on unit needs; self-scheduling requests honored when possible; staffing ratios goal of 1:4 (may flex to 1:5)

Highlights:

  • 36-bed Medical Oncology unit caring for solid tumor cancer patients across the full continuum of care, from diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life support
  • Diverse case mix including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers; chemotherapy administration and medical-surgical oncology
  • Epic EMR system with interdisciplinary team support including pharmacy, rapid response, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
  • 72 hours of orientation including first week Monday-Friday dayshift classroom, followed by on-unit precepting
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required for qualified medical-surgical nurses

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
  • Current BLS certification required; ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
  • Experience with Epic charting system required
  • Skills in IV management, central line care, port access, chemotherapy administration, blood product administration, and tracheostomy care
  • Previous travel experience preferred
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or director)
  • Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
  • Willingness to float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units
