Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts; variable weekend coverage based on unit needs; self-scheduling requests honored when possible; staffing ratios goal of 1:4 (may flex to 1:5)
Highlights:
- 36-bed Medical Oncology unit caring for solid tumor cancer patients across the full continuum of care, from diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life support
- Diverse case mix including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers; chemotherapy administration and medical-surgical oncology
- Epic EMR system with interdisciplinary team support including pharmacy, rapid response, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services
- Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
- 72 hours of orientation including first week Monday-Friday dayshift classroom, followed by on-unit precepting
- Oncology experience preferred but not required for qualified medical-surgical nurses
Requirements:
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
- Current BLS certification required; ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Experience with Epic charting system required
- Skills in IV management, central line care, port access, chemotherapy administration, blood product administration, and tracheostomy care
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or director)
- Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
- Willingness to float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units
