Job Description

Primary Purpose
The Registered Nurse – Resource Team provides comprehensive nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes
identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or
protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. The RN Clinical Nurse/RT assists in maintaining a safe work environment and
performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Registered Nurse – Resource Team maintains clinical and professional
competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.
Must be available to provide nursing services in all patient care areas of expertise and knowledge, at all elected facilities.

A registered nurse's practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

Major Responsibilities
• Collects pertinent data and information relative to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education

Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.

Certification / License
Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board for GA locations and
Alabama Licensing Board for AL locations.
BLS required.
ACLS required.

Work Experience

2 years of nursing experience in specialty area required.

· Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

Unit Information:

· ADTU and Satellite unit consists of 5 med-surg and med-tele units with the primary focus of decompressing the ED and other specialties areas within the hospital.

· Beds:

▪ 6CD ADTU - 19 beds

▪ Satellite Units – 34 beds

● 3K - 8 beds

● 5A -12 beds

● 3L - 7 beds

● 1T – 7 beds

· Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years Med/Tele RN experience (Resource Team)

· Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team)

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

· Adults/Geriatrics

· Common diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, Pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, Fall with injuries, MVC with injuries, Pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, Pneumothorax, GI bleeds, CVA

Patient Ratios:

· RN:

▪ 6CD - 1:5-6, acuity dependent (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8)

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

· Med/Tele RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills required:

· Med/Tele RN : General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.), PCA pumps

· Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF

Support within the Department:

· CNA: complete vitals, blood sugars, provide hygiene care (daily baths, chg treatments, potty, brushing teeth, hair), round, assist with patient needs, linen change. If you are a CNA+4, you can remove an IV, prime IV tubing, prime tube feeds, and insert/remove a foley

· Secretary: We have a secretary on our main unit, 6CD, that assist with all unit within ADTU. Secretary answers the phone, call bells, direct calls to the appropriate teammate, create charts, break down charts, stock units with office supplies, order STAT supplies, QC glucometer, etc.

· Charge nurse: we have a free charge nurse on our main unit, 6CD, that assist with all units within ADTU

· Phlebotomy, 24/7 – peripheral blood draws

· IV/VAT Team, 24/7

· Resource Nurse: we have resource nurses on long term contracts within our department that you will work alongside

· RT, 24/7

· Hospitalist, 24/7: we have hospitalist that are assigned to patients and can be reached 7a-7p. From 7p-7a, there is a hospitalist doing cross cover for patient care

· Intensivist, 24/7

· Telemetry monitoring – NO tele tech: We have a telemetry monitor on all our units. The team of nurses on each unit is responsible for monitoring patients' telemetry and the primary nurse is responsible for completing an interpretation each shift. On our main unit 6CD, the charge nurse also assists with monitoring telemetry.

· IV Pump: Alaris

· Med dispensing: Omnicell

· Monitors: Phillips

Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children's Hospital
Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH

▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation (facility and unit) :

· NEO

· 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

· Weekend rotation: every other

· No call

· Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

· RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours

· Shift times: 7a-7p; 7p-7a

· Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
