License: Active Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong background in Medical Surgical/Telemetry Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care Strong interpersonal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively Solid written and oral communication skills Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels Experience reading telemetry strips Skills in managing chest tubes, tracheostomies, PIV starts, and PCA pumps Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical/Telemetry. The unit provides care for patients with general medical issues, including diabetes, gastrointestinal concerns, respiratory needs, renal conditions, and wound management. Common procedures include dressing changes, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, lab draws, and telemetry monitoring. Patient ratios will be RN: 5-6:1 and CNA: 8:1. Support staff includes Certified Nursing Assistants who provide basic nursing care and assist the RN as needed. The team works closely with a charge nurse, phlebotomists, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage. Telemetry monitoring is centralized, with access to technology such as Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps. The unit culture emphasizes patient-centered care, strong teamwork, and reliability. Candidates must have the ability to manage moderate to high-stress situations and demonstrate proficiency in critical medications such as Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin.
