174 licensed beds
No Trauma Designation
Teaching Hospital? Only Community Schools of Nursing
Chest Pain Center? No, but part of Lee Garvey Chest Pain Network
TJC Stroke accredited
Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
Beds: 44
Census: 44 Average patients/day
Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years Med/Tele experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Cardiac focused: Chest Pain, MI, N-STEMI, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, medical overflow, potential for stroke patients
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:4-5
LPN (if applicable): 1:4-5
CNA: 1:8-9
Required Licensure & Certifications:
RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
Cardiac skills/telemetry reading knowledge, General Med- Surg RN skills – IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, central line management
Will manage non-titrating Cardiac drips: Cardizem and Amiodarone, Heparin gtts, blood products
Support within the Department:
CNA: Nursing support, ADLs, Ambulation, pt's cares, meal assist, all duties as assigned
Receptionist/HUC? Yes
Charge nurse? Yes, generally w/o patient assignment with additional Team Lead support
Phlebotomy? Yes, Ancillary dept
IV/VAT Team? Yes, Ancillary dept
Resource Nurse? The Team Lead & Clinical Supervisors on the unit acts as support to team and charge RN
RT 24/7? Yes, Ancillary dept
Hospitalist, 24/7
Intensivist 24/7 - In ICU
Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes, centralized for all units to 4th floor location 24/7
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: Epic
IV Pump: Alaris
Med dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Phillips
Unit specific equipment: General med-surg equipment and tele monitors
Floating:
Within region and scope of practice
Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main CMC Mercy Levine Children's Hospital)
If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
