Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of MedSurg/Tele experience required License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience - Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) - General medical/surgical skill set - Acute care MedSurg experience for CNAs Description: This position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry. The unit has 32 licensed beds with an average census of 32. Patient types include stroke, seizure, altered mental status, generalized weakness, acute kidney injury/chronic kidney disease, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for RNs during days/nights, with potential surge staffing increasing ratios to 1:7-8. For CNAs, the ratio is 1:8-11. Support within the department includes a dedicated CNA, receptionist, floating charge nurse, and hospitalist availability 24/7. Additional resources include a phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, and clinical nursing specialists. There is no remote telemetry monitoring available; staff are responsible for monitoring and documentation each shift. Technological equipment includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, medication dispensing units, and patient monitors. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice, with compensation for travel time if floating mid-shift. Unit culture is family-oriented.
