Job Title: LTC RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Long Term Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Experience with elderly patients Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in long-term care. The department is a nursing home with a patient capacity of 70 residents, primarily in private rooms. The electronic medical record system used is ECS. Patient ratios are 1 RN to 20 residents, 1 LPN to 20 residents, and 1 CNA to 8 residents. Common diagnoses include dementia, frailty in the elderly, and rehabilitation needs. Job duties include charting, conducting assessments, performing charge duties, administering medications, and utilizing clinical skills such as IVs, catheters, and ostomy care. Elderly care experience is essential. IV administration and titratable drips are part of the responsibilities. There are no telemonitoring systems or requirements for RNs to read cardiac strips. Attendance at team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation is not required. Leadership roles such as the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurse are present on the unit. Physician availability after hours is ensured. An interdisciplinary team is available, including therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, and housekeeping staff. Respiratory therapy is on-site 24/7. A pharmacy and medication dispensing system are available on-site. The shift requires four nurses and seven aides during day and evening shifts, and two nurses with three to four aides during the night shift. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Holiday availability for at least half of the holidays during the assignment is necessary. There is no on-call requirement. Floating to other units may be required. Dress code is any solid color that is clean and professional. All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
