Job Title: RN Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring preferred Must-Have: Cerner EMR Experience Required Description: Delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with other health team members. Effectively interacts with patients and other health team members while maintaining high standards of professional nursing. Provides high-quality care to the following patient populations: Adolescent and Adult Females, Neonates. At times of low census, the traveler may be placed on call. If called in, the traveler is expected to respond and arrive on-site within one hour. The unit is a Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum Unit with a triage space. Nurses function in all capacities: labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, nursery, and NICU. There is an operating room on the unit for C-sections. A group of midwives and OB/GYNs support the unit. Pediatric Hospitalists staff the nursery and NICU. When census is low, staff may be utilized in the Pediatric Department or on Acute Care as a rescue or constant observer. The unit has 12 LDRP rooms, 3 triage beds, 16 nursery beds, and 3 NICU beds. Basic and intermediate fetal monitoring skills are required. NRP, BLS, and STABLE certifications are preferred. The unit follows staffing guidelines. Staff members are required to go in on C-sections but are only responsible for the baby and will not scrub sections. A Level 2 Nursery is part of the unit.
