- Provide comprehensive care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn stages.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
- Monitor fetal heart tones using external fetal monitoring systems.
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Administer medications including antihypertensives and pain management (epidural, opioids).
- Initiate and manage IV therapy, including administration of blood products.
- Perform sterile vaginal exams and triage obstetric patients.
- Provide postpartum care including fundal checks, lochia assessment, perineum care, and Foley catheter management.
- Conduct newborn assessments and discharge teaching for parents, including circumcision and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Meditech / IntelliSpace Perinatal systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams using SBAR communication.
