Job Title: L&D RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: Minimum of 2 years of experience. Previous experience with laboring and postpartum patients is required. Description: The RN will work in the Labor and Delivery unit caring for laboring and postpartum patients. The unit has 5 beds for labor and delivery and 10 postpartum beds. The average number of births is approximately 430 per year. Nursing staff follows AWHONN staffing ratios. The RN will be responsible for managing titratable drips such as insulin, magnesium, and Pitocin. The RN will monitor patients during and after C-sections. There is a charge nurse on every shift and an in-house nursing supervisor available 24/7. A patient care technician is present on the night shift to assist with specific tasks. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and CRNAs are in-house 24/7. The RN may be floated to Med Surg units as needed. The dress code requires navy blue or royal blue scrubs for RNs. Weekend work is scheduled every third weekend. Holidays availability is preferred. Standby requirements vary based on census.
