Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring Must-Have: - BLS - NRP - Fetal Heart Monitoring Description: Unit specifics include requirements for BLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring. The facility can cancel one shift every other week. Candidates should be available to start no later than 02/09/2026 or 02/16/2026 at the latest. An OB nurse is needed with experience in 15-17 births per month. The nurse will work in Labor & Delivery as well as in Mother-Baby, Newborn Nursery, and Couplet Care. Responsibilities will also include care for Gynecology surgery patients. Nurses may float to Med/Surg if there are no patients. If floating to Med/Surg, nurses will support with vitals and passing medications if they are not comfortable taking patients on that floor. BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring are required for this position. RNs will likely work alongside an LPN during shifts. The RN will handle all responsibilities within their scope for laboring patients, triages, and mother-baby care. LPN duties do not include laboring or triaging patients, nor can they perform initial assessments. LPNs can support RNs with EFM evaluations, turning patients, acting as baby nurses, asking questions, and assisting with documentation. Initial assessments for newborns must be validated by the RN. If additional help is needed, staff can request assistance from a Transfer Coordinator. In emergencies, the LPN typically accompanies the patient to the OR to receive the baby, allowing the RN to remain on the unit for triage needs. As a small unit, creativity is often necessary, but there is excellent support and resources available when needed.
