Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills along with customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner. Possess excellent time management skills. Practices nursing using evidence and analytical skills with strong critical thinking skills. Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality and safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through a Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) in clinical care. Utilizes evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking. Ensures that care is individualized, coordinating care through effective partnerships. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Partners with the patient and significant others to keep them updated and make their goals the focus of care. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. Promotes inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods and ensures timely documentation. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. Participates in performance improvement and supports all stakeholders. Engages in shared governance at all levels in the system. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and required education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff. Models professional nursing practice and creates a healthy work environment. Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Upholds all organizational policies and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Participates in data collection and consults appropriate experts to address practice questions. Proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum. Participates in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers. Supports effective use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned.
