Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 48 hours guaranteed Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience preferred. Candidates with 1.5 years of ICU experience and significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered with management approval. License: Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (REQUIRED) Must-Have: Epic experience Comfortable working a 48-hour/week contract Experience with complex ICU patients, including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry Strong critical thinking and assessment skills Ability to work well in a team setting Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with critical patients Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred Description: This position is for an ICU RN within a mixed unit comprised of various specialties. The unit includes a range of complex ICU patients with diverse diagnoses. Patient ratios will vary depending on acuity, with ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and occasionally 1:3. The team consists of 1-2 Nurse Aides per unit, a charge nurse overseeing the ICU, and 24/7 respiratory therapy support. There are three intensivists on days and two on nights, along with an advanced practice provider on nights. Charting will be conducted using the Epic system. Travelers are expected to have prior travel assignment experience. Additional requirements include comfort with floating to other adult floors if needed, although this is not common. Holiday requests will not be accommodated during peak periods. Candidates may be expected to precept students.
