Job Title: Critical Care RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 10 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 5 years preferred License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS training required within 90 days; NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days; EKG Must-Have: TNCC preferred Description: Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients using the nursing process. Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Consults with specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes. Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients, following policy for re-assessments. Delivers individualized, age-specific care to maintain homeostatic regulation and physiological functioning. Maintains accurate nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments of changes. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan. Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the care plan. Reviews, revises, updates, and resolves care plans daily. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning. Includes families in teaching when appropriate. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care. Allocates and monitors the work of others. Assists physicians with procedures in the department. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and processes. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth and development through education and workshops. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility and organization while functioning under stressful situations. Meets all departmental specific competencies. Performs housekeeping duties as needed. Assists with patient transportation when necessary. Adheres to dress code and policies on infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
