License: Must have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted Professional Nursing License (RN) to practice nursing in any state of the United States or Puerto Rico. Certifications: Must maintain current valid certification of the following throughout employment: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association must be completed within six months of hire. Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) must be completed within six months of hire. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be completed within six months of hire. Must-Have: Associate Degree in Nursing. Description: Provides nursing care to critically ill patients. The Registered Nurse performs a variety of responsible nursing care procedures that require professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments. This role requires the ability to work independently in completing assignments. Guidelines include doctors' orders, standards of care, nursing policies and procedures manuals, and hospital policies. Nursing duties include the provision of inpatient care and support in the Intensive Care Unit to individuals of all ages and their families. After-hours recovery of post-operative general surgery, pediatric, and obstetrical patients as needed is also part of this role. The position includes floating to emergency department, medical-surgical, or pediatric units as necessary in case of low census. The nursing staff includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, community health nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and community health medics. A diverse patient and staff population provides a rich community experience. The role requires working with a multidisciplinary medical team, including surgeons, general medical officers, internal medicine doctors, psychiatrists, pediatricians, family practice physicians, obstetricians, ENT specialists, orthopedic surgeons, and urologists. Dental staff includes general dentists, endodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and pediatric dentists. The facility provides various medical services, including comprehensive inpatient and outpatient emergency services, dental, ophthalmology, orthopedic, obstetric, oral surgery, eye surgery, and urological procedures. Approximately 49% of the surgeries performed are outpatient or ambulatory surgical procedures. The intensive care unit consists of five beds and provides essential care for critically ill patients. Guidelines for patient care include established nursing policies and procedures as well as standards of care.
