Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Adult ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in ICU required License: Yes Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have Level 1 Trauma experience. Must have experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Must be competent in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit tests. RNs will be expected to read and interpret their own strips. Description: This position requires two or more years of experience in an ICU setting. RNs will be required to float among all ICU areas, as well as MedSurg/Tele units. Weekend requirements include four total weekend shifts per four weeks. Holiday work will be scheduled based on department coverage. Self-scheduling is allowed, with schedulers having the right to rebalance the schedule. The environment includes 40 beds per unit. Common diagnoses include sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, and trauma-related conditions. Bedside procedures will include bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, and hemodialysis catheter placements. Charting will be done using an electronic health record system. RNs must be proficient in maintaining a sterile field due to the high expectations of patient care. The position involves working closely with intensivists and respiratory therapists who are available 24/7. Candidates must be able to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Travelers must be aware that hospital management can cancel up to four shifts during the assignment.
