Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU RN experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CCRN (preferred) Must-Have: Must pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding Description: Join our team as an ICU RN in a fast-paced environment. The facility has 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation. It operates as a teaching hospital and is recognized as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center. Each ICU unit accommodates 10-20 beds, and patient ratios vary. In the ICU, the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2, while in the Progressive Care Unit, it is 1:3-4. Assistive personnel include CNAs to aid with vital signs, blood glucose checks, and patient care duties. A unit secretary is available from 7 AM to 11 PM. Nurses will draw blood samples as needed, with resources available for various patient care needs. Respiratory therapy and hospitalist services are available 24/7, along with teams for telemetry monitoring. Technology utilized includes EPIC for electronic medical records and specific equipment for glucose monitoring. Traveling nurses will be expected to float to other units as necessary. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation of 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 hours and holiday shift expectations. Requests for time off must receive manager approval, and shift times are either 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. Scrubs are navy blue for RNs. The unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented.
