Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a hospital setting License: Active nursing license in good standing with compact if indicated Certifications: BLS required, ACLS required, current NIH certification required annually Must-Have: 2 years ICU experience Advanced skills preferred in chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusion, and ventilators Description: 2 years of experience in a hospital setting required. Must have a valid nursing license at submission. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Patient ratios in the unit are 2:1 and 3:1. Clinical team includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Nurse Externs. Equipment used in the unit includes Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, ventilators, and glucometers. Documentation is done using Meditech Expanse. Scheduling requires working every other weekend with three 12-hour shifts. Floating to other units may be required. The unit performs telemetry monitoring, paracentesis (physician-led), BiPAP, and therapeutic phlebotomy. Collaborative interdisciplinary communication is emphasized. The unit supports excellent teamwork with multiple travelers extending contracts due to a positive working environment. Recognition programs are in place for both staff and patient acknowledgment. GroupMe is utilized for communication, questions, and celebration of achievements. Unit leadership includes a director, manager, and clinical educator.
