Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: 2 years of experience preferred License: Current Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Emergency and/or critical care experience preferred Previous Charge Experience: Preferred Patient Ratio Experience: 4 Description: Travelers are not required to pick up on-call shifts. BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA) certifications are required. Emergency experience and critical care experience are preferred. Candidates must be able to manage arterial lines and apply splints. Experience with ortho trauma is beneficial. Candidates must be able to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs). Understanding of dysrhythmias and management of patients with multiple system organ dysfunction is required. Candidates should be able to obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG and administer blood products. Central line care and management, as well as phlebotomy skills, are required. Candidates must be proficient in starting and maintaining IVs, administering continuous IV paralytics, and providing continuous IV sedation. Ability to administer emergency medications and IV vasopressors is necessary. Candidates will be required to perform procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Experience with neuro-trauma and management of spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries is important. Candidates should know how to assess and manage various emergency conditions such as abdominal pain, asthma, burns, and infections. Experience with mental/behavioral health conditions and managing patients experiencing acute psychosis or suicidal ideation is preferred. The candidate must be skilled in chest tube insertion and management, as well as BiPAP/CPAP management and intubation. Knowledge of care for ventilated patients, isolation precautions, and triage is essential. Candidates will handle a daily patient census of 40-50 in a diverse patient age group including neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Employees must adhere to a smoke-free and nicotine-free campus policy. RTO should be kept to a minimum, preferably with no requests for a week off during the assignment. Expectation to work some holidays is included. On-call staff must be able to arrive at the facility within 30 minutes if called. Floating, if required, will be in rotation with staff in accordance with standard policies.
