Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 17 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours - Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in an Acute Care setting License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ASLS or NIHSS, TNCC Preferred Must-Have: - 2 years of ER experience in an Acute Care setting - Meditech experience Description: The nursing unit has a 75-mile radius rule for applicants. Applicants must have a driver’s license showing an address within the required distance. COVID immunization is not required; however, unvaccinated individuals must be willing to undergo weekly testing. Candidates have the option of a clinical interview or an "auto-offer" based on their profile and skills review. ER RNs will take an online Cardiac Rhythms test, administered by the staffing agency, with a minimum passing score of 80%. They must also take the ESI Triage Exam during orientation, and remediation will be provided if they fail. Highly preferred candidates will have travel experience or at least 5 years in a Level 1 Trauma Facility. The unit has a fast track area to run less acute patients through, and they screen many non-emergent patients to a community care clinic. The facility includes 25 monitored beds, 6 fast treatment beds, 6 fast treatment chairs, and 2 trauma bays. There is also a dedicated stroke room and 4-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatric professionals. The unit handles approximately 140 patient visits per day, with a patient ratio of 1 to 4. The electronic medical records system used is Meditech. A charge nurse is available, and there are 2-3 nurse aides/paramedics on each shift. Security and patient sitters are present in the emergency room. The hospital includes a dedicated respiratory therapy team available 24/7. Pharmacy services are on-site and available 24/7. Common diagnoses involve patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. The facility accepts trauma patients, with certain neuro cases being shipped out, while also retaining some orthopedic trauma. Candidates should have prior ESI triage training and familiarity with different triage systems. Experience with Alaris pumps is also preferred. The unit's orientation will involve 1-2 shifts depending on the comfort level of the new hires.
