Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care preferred License: RN License required Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support required PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support required (within 180 days) TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course required (within 18 months) ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required (within 180 days) Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak English Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies Excellent time management and critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. This team ensures that patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. Nursing practice adheres to the professional standards and is supported by a comprehensive governance model. The nurse will perform the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Care is provided using evidence-based practices and is individualized based on patient needs. A relationship-based approach is taken to ensure patient-centered care that respects cultural diversity. The nurse will partner with patients and their families, ensuring clear communication and setting mutual goals for care. Effective coordination and documentation of patient care will be prioritized. Teamwork and collaboration are vital parts of this role, promoting an inclusive and respectful clinical environment. The nurse will participate in performance improvement initiatives for better patient care outcomes. Completing necessary competency assessments and mandatory education is essential for ongoing professional development. The nurse may serve as a mentor for other nurses, ensuring a qualified future workforce. Support for evidence-based practice and performance improvement in nursing is expected. This includes participating in research and utilizing clinical best practices for improved patient outcomes. The nurse will manage resources effectively and proactively plan patient care across the continuum. Participation in protocol development and best practice initiatives is encouraged.
