Description: The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice framework is driven by a professional practice model and evidence-based research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by organizational values. All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the nursing practice standards. As part of the patient services team, the individual must support service excellence goals and adhere to system policies. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Exemplary Practice and Outcomes The RN performs the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They utilize evidence-based practice and analytical thinking, ensuring individualized care. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care, adapting services to reflect cultural diversity. The RN partners with patients and significant others, maintaining focus on patient goals. They practice using current clinical standards. Teamwork and Collaboration The RN coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. This includes effective interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation. The RN demonstrates teamwork and collaboration, promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. They support performance improvement and participate in shared governance at all levels. Professional Development and Initiative The RN completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments. They serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and contribute to a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research The RN promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. They uphold all policies and clinical competency requirements, ensuring adherence to safety goals. The RN participates in data collection and engages in practice improvement initiatives. Resources and Support The RN proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum.
