License: Current RN license in Oregon Certifications: Healthcare Provider CPR, CNOR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Proficient in computer skills, including word processing and internet use. Description: This position reports to the Clinical Education Department Manager. The Clinical Staff Educator provides education and instruction for staff, with a focus on clinical personnel. This position acts as a resource regarding healthcare education and training programs. The Clinical Staff Educator introduces technical and theoretical concepts in teaching techniques to staff and others as needed. This position supports the development of education with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators. The Clinical Staff Educator will become proficient in the use of simulation training using mannequins and simulation software. This position collaborates with members of the Quality Management team to promote continuous improvement. The Clinical Staff Educator works closely with the Quality Management team and department managers to identify educational opportunities. Assistance with Quality Department activities is provided as requested. Essential job functions include performing a variety of duties and adapting to changes in tasks without loss of efficiency. The Clinical Staff Educator accepts responsibility for planning and directing activities. Evaluations and decisions are based on measurable and certifiable criteria. Independent work is required, with assignments completed on schedule or barriers communicated to the manager. The educator must prioritize job duties and re-prioritize throughout the day as necessary. Programs and participant learning are evaluated, with appropriate changes made as needed. Confidentiality and patient rights are recognized and respected throughout all activities. The individual relates to others in a manner that fosters teamwork and cooperation. Effective communication is essential in daily activities. Empathy and compassion are conveyed in all conversations. Dependability, organization, and personal presentation are critical attributes. Staff supports the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of the organization. Participation in required education programs applicable to the position is expected. Other related duties may be assigned as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing degree strongly preferred. Experience teaching others and developing courses, including direct teaching and evaluating the learning process, is preferred. Knowledge of teaching theories and learning models is an advantage. Experience utilizing simulation manikins and software for teaching is preferred. Experience as a clinical staff educator is an asset. Familiarity with the functions of a computer network is beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) is required. Excellent telephone etiquette, communication, and customer service skills are essential. Familiarity with fax machines and copiers is preferred. Typing speed of a minimum of 45 WPM with accuracy is expected. Excellent skills in English, including punctuation, spelling, grammar, and proofreading, are necessary. Knowledge of electronic health record systems is helpful. The ability to provide care considering the patient’s age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being is essential. The capacity to write educational objectives for healthcare employees is required.
