Position Summary
The MRI Technologist performs high quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients under the general supervision of a Radiologist. The technologist supports accurate diagnosis of disease and injury by following established imaging protocols, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Schedule Options
Weekend option: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM 7:00 PM, plus Monday 10:00 AM 9:00 PM.
Additional options: Flexible 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts available.
Openings include Friday Sunday evening (second shift, 3 x 12 hour shifts).
Key Responsibilities
Perform high quality MRI exams according to established protocols and in a timely manner.
Prepare patients for procedures by verifying identity, explaining the exam, screening for contraindications, and positioning patients appropriately.
Utilize AIDET or similar communication framework to identify patient needs, verify the correct exam, and build rapport.
Operate MRI scanners and related equipment; adjust technical factors to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
Assist with contrast administration per protocol and document all required information in the imaging record.
Adhere to MRI safety policies for patients, staff, and visitors, including thorough screening before department entry.
Maintain aseptic technique during invasive or multimodality procedures and follow infection control and radiation safety policies.
Perform and document instrument, supply, and area checks; maintain equipment cleanliness and readiness, and report malfunctions promptly.
Collaborate with radiologists, physicists, engineers, and clinical staff to optimize imaging quality and workflow.
Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation (orders, patient history, pregnancy status, consent, shielding/precautions).
Accurately maintain imaging records in the designated PACS/RIS or EMR system according to departmental standards.
Support patient satisfaction by minimizing wait times, providing courteous service, and demonstrating a calm, helpful attitude.
Participate in orientation or precepting of new team members and support cross training initiatives.

Commitment to ongoing learning, maintaining current knowledge for all relevant patient age groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Up to 1 year of MRI or radiology experience; recent graduates considered.
Certification/Licensure:
Certification by one of the following:
ARRT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT(MR); or
ARRT in Radiography ARRT(R); or
ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists).
Additional state or employer specific requirements as applicable in Texas.
