The Director of Laboratory provides strategic and operational leadership for the clinical laboratory, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely diagnostic testing and services. This role oversees staff, budgets, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and collaboration with medical and administrative leadership to support excellent patient care and organizational goals.

• Lead and manage all laboratory operations, including technical and support staff.

• Develop and implement departmental goals, policies, and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards.

• Oversee test menu, instrumentation, and workflow to optimize efficiency and turnaround times.

• Manage departmental budget, staffing plans, and resource utilization.

• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of laboratory staff.

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and other departments to support clinical needs.

• Monitor quality indicators, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.

• BA/BS in Medical Technology or a scientific discipline (equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered).

• Hospital or reference laboratory experience (preferred).

• Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and take appropriate action.

• Master s degree (MBA or MA/MS in a scientific or related discipline).

• Previous Director-level or senior leadership experience in a clinical laboratory.
