Position Overview:

• Title: Medical Technologist (Allied)
• Location: Atlanta, GA
• Shift: 8-hour nights (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, variable schedule)
• Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week

Summary:

The Medical Technologist will work in a busy, high-volume hospital laboratory supporting critical patient care. The role requires strong technical expertise, especially in hematology and differential analysis, with minimal training time needed. Candidates must be able to transition quickly into the workflow and manage complex specimens with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including Sysmex analyzers and CellaVision systems, conducting daily quality control checks.
• Accurately perform differentials, particularly for neonatal patients, and identify abnormal cell findings.
• Handle complex specimens such as turbid samples, platelet clumps, and abnormal morphology with precision.
• Document and verify test results in the laboratory information system, ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to provide critical diagnostic information for patient care.
