Job Title: Lead Medical Technologist Profession: Medical Technologist Specialty: - Duration: Direct Hire Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, occasional late Fridays (no holidays or weekends) Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience in Flow Cytometry, Hematology, and Oncology Differentials preferred License: Must have passed national certification exam as a laboratory scientist that is accredited by an approved agency Certifications: ASCP or AMT Certification preferred Must-Have: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or in a related Biological/Chemical Science from an accredited college or university Description: Performs medical laboratory testing and supervisory duties designated by the supervisor. Receives and processes specimens, components, and requisitions. Receives, prioritizes, and processes specimens in a timely manner to meet or exceed turnaround time standards. Verifies specimen identification and labeling. Determines if specimen is acceptable for analysis. Identifies discrepancies, resolves, and documents for quality assurance. Willingly assists other employees in the department during times of high-volume testing. Completes blood component transfusion utilization form. Performs and documents blood component processing according to established procedures. As requested, provides appropriate platelet and plasma components. Documents special component needs in transfusion service information systems. Reviews and confirms recipient and donor information at the time of blood component issue. Maintains adequate blood component inventory and uses the inventory effectively. Performs testing according to established procedures and organizes work for maximum efficiency. Maintains efficiency during stressful situations. Demonstrates knowledge of technical and instrumental procedures. Performs testing according to established procedure and identifies absurd results, repeating tests as needed. Maintains a clean, uncluttered work area and uses required personal protective equipment and physical barriers. Works independently with minimal supervision and uses time efficiently when work is completed. Reviews specimen logs for unreceived specimens. Performs patient and component testing according to established procedures. Uses information systems efficiently to record testing results and comments. Reports accurate test results. Demonstrates skills in interpersonal relations, leadership, and communication. Demonstrates organizational skills.
