Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy with care and professionalism to ensure patient comfort and accurate specimens
  • Operate and maintain chemistry and hematology analyzers, ensuring reliable test results
  • Conduct urinalysis, blood bank, serology, and microbiology testing as a lab generalist
  • Follow quality control and QA procedures to maintain laboratory accuracy and compliance
  • Document results, maintain specimen integrity, and communicate critical findings to clinical teams
  • Participate in on-call coverage and occasional weekend shifts to support continuous patient care
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and coordinate with clinical engineering or vendor support as needed
  • Support a positive lab culture by mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices
Qualifications
  • Certification or credential as an MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program (Associate degree or equivalent)
  • Competence in phlebotomy and generalist testing areas (chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, microbiology)
  • Familiarity with quality control, laboratory safety practices, and documentation standards
  • State licensure if required by Colorado regulations (obtain/maintain as applicable)
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a clinical team
Education
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or related field from an accredited program
  • Completion of certification program or equivalent clinical training
Knowledge & Skills
  • Phlebotomy best practices and patient specimen handling
  • Clinical chemistry and hematology testing workflows
  • Urinalysis techniques and automation
  • Blood bank procedures and serology testing fundamentals
  • Microbiology specimen processing and basic culture techniques
  • Quality control, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Laboratory information systems (LIS) familiarity and accurate data entry
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety/QA protocols
