Summary: The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The MLT works under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Pathologist, or Laboratory Manager and ensures accurate and timely test results while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, receive, label, and process patient specimens (blood, urine, body fluids, etc.).
- Perform routine laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Record and analyze test results accurately.
- Report abnormal results to supervisors or physicians.
- Maintain quality control and assurance procedures.
