Roles & Responsibilities- Collect and accurately document patient information and vital signs in the medical record
- Prepare patients for exams, assist providers during procedures and minor office surgeries
- Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) following protocol
- Maintain and update medication and immunization records and identify overdue preventive care
- Operate and prepare medical equipment for routine exams, including EKG and monitoring devices
- Transport patients within the facility as needed and ensure patient safety during visits
- Provide immunizations and injections as ordered by the provider
- Support clinic flow by providing cross-coverage, assisting nurses and providers, and triaging needs
- Report and document changes in patient condition, unusual incidents, or safety breaches
- Participate in staff meetings, unit goal setting, and apply meeting information to clinical practice
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required
- Current Alaska Certification OR AK Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree from an accredited institution may substitute
- Experience in a healthcare or clinic setting preferred
- Proven ability to use EMR systems and record patient data accurately
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Ability to operate common clinical equipment and respond to emergency situations
- Willingness to cross-cover and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required; alternates include AK Certification, AK Paramedic Certification, or a Nursing Degree
- Patient care and vital signs measurement
- Specimen collection and labeling procedures
- Point of Care Testing (POCT) and immunization administration
- Familiarity with EMR systems and general computer applications
- Basic life support and emergency recognition
- Operation of EKG machines, cardiac monitors, manual defibrillators, blood pressure cuffs, and pulse oximeters
- Medical terminology and clinic workflows
- Strong interpersonal, training, and customer service skills
