Job Title: Mammographer Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Mammographer Duration: Permanent Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer) Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program Description: The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. They are responsible for providing patient education, ensuring quality patient care, and meeting all regulatory compliance. Responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology. Suggest changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement. Coordinate training and development in breast imaging specialties. Adhere to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section. Maintain appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections. Manage the structured reporting system to ensure accurate audit reporting, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues. Ensure the completion of daily quality assurance and preventative maintenance scheduling. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of mammography imaging procedures. Perform all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols devised with the Radiologist. Practice radiation safety, adhering to ALARA standards. Operate equipment consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations. Troubleshoot equipment problems and independently call for service if outside maintenance is needed. Verify exam orders, identify the patient through two means of identification, and provide exam education. Review and document the patient’s medical history, obtain required informed consent, and ensure all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete prior to procedures. Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system, including charging for procedures and supplies. May perform other functions within the clinic as required. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking call, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed. Obtain additional training or certification as required. Assist with clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation when needed. Assist, train, or cross-train imaging staff members as directed. Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision. Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
