Job Title: Paramedic Profession: EMT-P Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 24 hours on duty, 24 hours on call (10-minute response time) Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active Paramedic License Certifications: NREMT-P, ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: - ALS level of care - Intubation experience preferred Description: The Paramedic provides professional and compassionate care to various patients in a multidisciplinary pre-hospital and hospital setting. Patient populations include children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, occasionally dealing with multiple patients simultaneously. The Paramedic performs and documents assessments and treatments. Individualized patient care ensures that interventions are made appropriately and according to policy. Identifies needs including supervising the transfer of patients to a different facility or level of care. Provides direct patient care and administers medications utilizing the five Patient Rights. Identifies significant changes or high-risk situations. Completes all documentation in a timely manner. Demonstrates knowledge and use of equipment encountered in the ambulance department or in the hospital. Communicates patient status during the transfer of care. Adjusts workload as needed and assesses staffing needs. Responsible for the supervision and safety of EMTs, staff, and bystanders. Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments involved in either direct or indirect patient care. Treatments adhere to established guidelines. Common diagnoses and types of patients include trauma, chest pain, respiratory distress, falls, and abdominal pain. Required equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators. Medication management includes titration of nitroglycerin, heparin, IV fluids, and vasopressors. Call and standby requirements are included in the shift schedule. Floating requirements are not applicable. Uniform consists of navy blue or black pants and department-provided shirts. Strictly provides 911 service with interfacility transfers. Will intercept with volunteer squads en route if ALS care is needed. Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks. Charting system used is Point Click Care. BSN is not required for this position. Trauma Level is classified as CAH. Care setting is acute. Division is allied. Shift requirements include weekends and holidays as part of rotation.
