Job Title: Dental Hygienist Profession: Dental Specialty: Dental Hygienist Duration: Full Time Shift: Days Hours per Shift: Guaranteed Hours Not Specified Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Not Specified License: Active Dental Hygiene License in the State Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Clinical Competency Assessment, Dental Hygienist License, High Risk Competency Must-Have: Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program, High school diploma or GED Description: Provide optimum age-specific prevention and curative periodontal and dental care for patients. Perform hygiene services on infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Educate patients on the prevention and control of oral disease, emphasizing the importance of oral hygiene, home care, and nutrition. Examine oral tissues, perform periodontal therapy, coronal polishing of teeth, and apply topical fluoride. Measure and mark periodontal pockets. Perform x-rays and record pulse, blood pressure, and temperature. Manage patient schedule. Coordinate and conduct dental prevention activities, including health fairs and clinics. Maintain supplies and instruments, including sterilization of instruments. Perform other duties as assigned. This position does not require supervisory responsibilities. Education and Skills Required: Knowledge of proper infection control techniques. Understanding of principles of dental and periodontal disease and appropriate treatment therapies. Skilled in clinical hygiene. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to make accurate clinical judgments. Physical ability to sit over patients for extended periods.
