Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography (CT) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 24 months of CT experience in a clinical or hospital setting License: Active Iowa radiology license required (non-licensed candidates may apply for a license upon acceptance) Certifications: ARRT (CT), BLS Must-Have: - Work history/resume/employment history with a minimum of 24 months of current CT experience - Skills Checklist specific to Computed Tomography - Active Iowa radiology license documentation - Professional Reference from a charge/supervisor/nurse manager/director performance evaluation within the last 24 months - Valid Driver's License - Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association Description: The department operates with Toshiba Aquilion One 640 slice and Siemens 128 slice equipment. An average of 80-90 cases is handled every 24-hour period. The emergency department is located on the first floor, with patient transporters available to assist moving patients. CT Technologists transport patients when transporters are unavailable. There are 5 CT Technologists on day shift, with 2-3 staffing from 6 PM to 11 PM. Staffing drops to one CT Technologist from midnight until 6 AM. An X-ray Technologist is present on the night shift, with a second X-ray Technologist arriving at 4 AM for morning portables. CT Technologists may assist X-ray Technologists with morning portables if time allows. The morning CT Technologist begins work at 6 AM to prepare for the day. Cross-training in X-ray is not required as the areas function separately. Ultrasound services are available 24/7 in a nearby location. The department utilizes EPIC and McKesson PACS for imaging and data management. After-hours readings are conducted by a contracted radiology service. The facility is a stroke center and performs many brain perfusion exams using RapidAI software for intercranial hemorrhage assessments.
