CT/Rad Tech Dual Modality

  • About Facility:
    Facility is a freestanding ED providing Emergency care
    AH Kannapolis - 2711 Lane St, Kannapolis, NC
    How many ED beds? 14
    Facility offers DX, CT and US Imaging
    Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
  • Department Information:
    Average Scans per day: DX – 40; CT – 35; Ultrasound - 10
    Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year in specialty; highly prefer ED experience in a Trauma facility
    Will you accept a first-time traveler? Dependent on experience
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
    Emergency patients: MVC, Shortness of Breath, Falls, Injuries, DVT's
  • Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements:
    Rad Tech: BLS and ARRT(R)
    Dual Modality DX/CT Tech: BLS and ARRT (R)(CT)
  • Skills required:
    Comfortability working independently is a MUST
    Rad Tech: Xray tech to be independent to work in our FSED running the xray room and portable for the needs of the ER dept.
    Dual Modality DX/CT Tech: Skilled in both DX and CT for Dual technologist requests
    Proficiency in scanning Code Strokes
    Common scans to be discussed during interview with manager
    US Tech: Proficient in scanning General: adult and pediatric patients; Vascular: venous and arterial; Small Parts: thyroid, testicles, soft tissue; Peds: pylorus, intussusception, appendix; OB - more Early OB, but limited 2nd & 3rd trimester
  • Support within the Department:
    Supervisor – M-F dayshift – on site between Harrisburg and Kannapolis FSEDs
    No radiologist on site – scans read remotely (to include overnight)
    Typically, 2-3 technologists within radiology are staffed during the same shift.
    1st Shift: (1) US Tech, (2) Dual DX/CT techs
    3rd shift: (1) 1 US Tech and (1) Dual DX/CT Tech
    No Transport
  • Technology/Equipment:
    EMR: EPIC
    Phillips ISite/PACS
    Tera Recon - 3D post processing
    Department specific Equipment:
    Client CT Scanner 16 slice scanner optima 540
    Siemens Acuson Sequoia US machine
    Shimadzu XR portable and Philips XR room
  • Floating:
    DX/CT Tech must take 2 days a month of call (3) 12 hr shifts for Harrisburg and Kannapolis FSEDs (20-25 min apart). Details discussed during interview.
  • Orientation (facility and unit):
    3 days departmental
  • Scheduling:
    Weekend rotation: dependent on requisition and discussed during interview
    Call required: (3) 12h shifts per month – specifics discussed during interview
    Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work holidays as scheduled
    RTO: Manager approval
    Shift times: Dependent on job requisition and discussed during interview with Manager
