Job Title: CVOR Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: CVOR/Vascular Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (06:30 - 15:00) Experience: Minimum 2 years as a CVOR/Open Heart surgical technologist License: Licensed Surgical Technologist Certifications: BLS Required Must-Have: - Knowledge and technical skills necessary to assist in operations. - Ability to set up operating room and prepare patients for surgery. - Proficiency in passing instruments and supplies to surgeons. - Experience in counting sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. - Ability to adhere to standards of perioperative care. - Effective communication skills, both oral and written. - Ability to handle critical situations with efficiency and composure. Description: This position is filled by a Surgical Technologist. The individual must assist in operations under supervision. Responsibilities include setting up the operating room and preparing patients for surgery. The role involves adjusting lights and equipment as needed. The technologist will pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and assistants. They are responsible for holding retractors, cutting sutures, and counting surgical items. The technologist is responsible for direct patient care in the perioperative unit. They must be proficient in a variety of high-level surgical technologist skills. Additionally, a team effort among co-workers is essential. The individual must know, own, and energize the vision, mission, and values of the facility. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting patients and equipment. The role requires effective communication to solve problems and make decisions. The technologist may be subject to environmental conditions and hazards. Response to emergency situations is critical, including CPR and obtaining necessary equipment. The individual must perform effectively in critical and highly stressful situations. They may function around patients with varying needs and conditions. The job involves patient age groups ranging from adolescents to geriatrics.
