Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide therapeutic services that help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. The COTA assists in implementing treatment plans, documenting patient progress, and promoting functional independence.
Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatment.
- Modify activities and interventions within the scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to infection control policies.
