Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Profession: Allied Anesthesia Tech Specialty: Anesthesia Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5x8.0 Hours per Shift: 6am - 2:30pm Experience: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician License: BLS required Certifications: Certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred Must-Have: - Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician - BLS certification Description: Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to patient arrival. Place anesthesia monitors and ensure cleanliness of anesthesia equipment. Ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies. Set up medications and supplies where applicable. Continuously communicate with anesthesiology staff to meet their needs throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and central line catheter placements. Operate the cell-saver machine and track lab reports. Participate in advanced surgical cases including cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, and trauma. Provide on-call coverage as required. Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and preventive maintenance is completed. Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting. Serve as a key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment. Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs. Train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist. Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting. Test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors. Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors. Set up rooms between cases and set up carts throughout the day. Provide full-service setup at the end of the day. Work with other units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Perform setup and support for ectopic procedures. Provide backup to the shift supervisor in their absence. Perform other duties as assigned.
