Job Summary and Responsibilities

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate full-time Trauma Critical Care certified surgeon to join our team at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, AZ as Trauma Medical Director and clinical surgical faculty. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in advancing the Level 1 Trauma care, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care in the community, educating surgical residents and medical students, and providing comprehensive and high-quality care to patients with surgery needs. This physician should embody excellent communication skills and be able to work in a high volume, matrixed environment.

The position will be a combination of, but not limited to, duties below:

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical role as Trauma Critical Care fellowship trained surgeon (0.6 FTE)
    • This clinical team covers Trauma Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery (ACS), and Surgical Intensive Care Unit
    • Collaborative team of physicians and advanced practice providers
    • Clinic location on CRMC campus
    • Great MA and operations leadership support
    • Inpatient clinical coverage at Chandler Regional Medical Center (CRMC), including base obligation of both primary and back-up Trauma shifts.
    • Outpatient coverage, largely for post-operative and follow-up patient needs
  • Administrative roles as Trauma Medical Director for Level 1 Trauma facility (0.3 FTE) and DHMG Division Chief (0.1 FTE)
    • Function in accordance with the duties and responsibilities delineated in the American College of Surgeons Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient and all applicable updates relevant to an ACS Level I Trauma Center
    • Be accountable to the appropriate Medical Staff, hospital, and medical group Departments/Committees for the quality of Trauma services performed
    • Engage in recruitment and retention of physicians, APPs, and staff
    • Be responsible to administration for the medical management of its Trauma Center and participate in management development programs.
    • Work with CRMC administration in the timely planning of activities, including the annual development of program objectives, operations budget.
    • Provide oversight of on-going training and continuing education programs for the CRMC medical staff, nursing staff, support personnel and community outreach.
    • Maintain 16 hours annually or 48 hours in 3 years of trauma-related extramural CME.
  • Academic role as surgical faculty
    • Newly developed General Surgery GME program under Creighton University East Valley Arizona (CUEVA)
