What you will be doing:
In this role, you'll actively contribute to advancing the Fairbanks Field Office's objectives by overseeing the DOT&PF Northern Region's capital airports program as well as assisting with surface transportation area planning. Your responsibilities include assessing regional aviation system needs, presenting project nominations to the Aviation Project Evaluation Board, and maintaining the Alaska Aviation System Plan for the region. Additionally, you'll manage an inventory of existing aviation facilities, identify their improvement needs, and coordinate with other divisions to prioritize capital projects and update Airport Layout Plans. You'll also support team efforts to develop multi-modal transportation area plans and provide training to Area Planners on airport planning and the Airport Improvement Program funding process. Area planner responsibilities include coordinating with communities on transportation needs, assisting regional staff with project initiation, and developing various project agreements.
