Primary Purpose:
The Translator supports both HR and Operations by providing accurate, culturally appropriate translation and interpretation throughout the plant. This includes assisting during interviews, onboarding, training, production‑floor communication, and HR conversations. The role ensures employees clearly understand information related to safety, policies, procedures, and daily operations.
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday work as needed based on plant operations.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interpretation & Communication Support:
Provide real‑time (simultaneous or consecutive) interpretation at the request of management, ensuring message content, tone, and intent are preserved. Maintain strict confidentiality and follow ethical standards at all times. - Employee Support & Daily Translation Needs
Offer translation assistance when approached by employees, helping them understand instructions, policies, and workplace expectations. Listen carefully to determine meaning and provide clear, accurate translations. - Written Translation
Translate written documents for posting or distribution within the plant, ensuring the translated version conveys the original meaning clearly and accurately. - Safety & Compliance Support
Promote safety by ensuring employees fully understand safety rules, procedures, and corrective actions through effective translation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- ATA (American Translators Association) certification preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant translation or interpretation experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Haitian Creole.
- Ability to listen, understand, and accurately convey information presented through spoken language.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
