The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement new tooling, fixtures, and molds for manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and modification of existing production tooling.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot tooling-related issues to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure tooling meets product specifications.
  • Specify and procure tooling materials, components, and equipment from external vendors.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling efficiency, lifespan, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure all tooling adheres to safety standards, quality requirements, and industry best practices.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in tool design, development, and optimization for manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) for tooling design.
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes such as stamping, injection molding, die casting, or machining.
  • Knowledge of materials science, heat treatment, and surface finishing techniques relevant to tooling.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tooling issues, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and manufacturing standards.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, CFD, Moldflow).
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and robotics integration.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience.
