Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and repair complex metal dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in manufacturing processes.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations and tolerances.
- Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines, to shape and finish metal components.
- Perform precision measurements and inspections using various measuring instruments to ensure parts meet strict quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling performance and functionality on the production floor.
- Maintain and sharpen cutting tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to identify areas for tooling improvement and efficiency.
- Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Recommended Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar manufacturing role.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (e.g., lathes, milling machines, grinders, EDM).
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties relevant to tool and die making.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting and quality control.
Bonus Qualifications
- - Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming
- - Proficiency in CNC machining and programming
- - Knowledge of heat-treating processes for tooling
- - Experience with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining)
- - Certification in relevant trade programs
