Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and repair complex tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures using precision machining techniques.
• Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications to create or modify tooling.
• Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools, including CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
• Perform precision measurements and inspections to ensure tooling meets strict tolerances and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tooling performance and functionality on the production floor.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tooling design and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain accurate records of tooling fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tooling components.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training in tool and die making.
• Proven experience in operating and maintaining various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines.
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and precision measurement techniques.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex tooling and dies.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and heat-treating processes.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with CNC programming and operation for tool and die production
• - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and simulation
• - Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tooling
• - Familiarity with various welding techniques for tool repair and fabrication
• - Experience with inspection and measurement tools like CMMs
