The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Grand Rapids that are seeking Tool and Die Makers. Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using various machine tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings to determine specifications.
• Operate precision machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment.
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling to determine necessary repairs or modifications.
• Maintain and sharpen cutting tools and components to ensure optimal performance.
• Inspect finished tools and dies for conformance to specifications and quality standards.

Recommended Qualifications

• Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in precision tool and die making.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Expertise in operating and setting up conventional machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders) and precision measuring instruments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an exceptional eye for detail and precision.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with CNC programming and operation.
• - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tool design.
• - Knowledge of various heat treating processes.
• - Familiarity with advanced measuring instruments (e.g., CMM).
• - Experience with automated manufacturing systems.
