Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, repair, and maintain complex tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications to create precise components.
- Operate a variety of precision machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines.
- Perform precision grinding, machining, and fitting operations to achieve tight tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tooling and dies during production runs.
- Inspect finished tools and parts for accuracy and adherence to specifications using measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and performance.
- Maintain detailed records of tool modifications, repairs, and production data.
Recommended Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar precision machining role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings.
- Expertise in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (e.g., lathes, milling machines, grinders, EDM).
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties relevant to tool and die construction.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, optical comparators).
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair tools, dies, and fixtures to maintain optimal performance.
Bonus Qualifications
- - Experience with CNC programming and operation.
- - Proficiency in SolidWorks or other CAD software.
- - Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steels.
- - Certification in lean manufacturing principles.
- - Experience with EDM machining.
