The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and repair intricate tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in metal stamping, molding, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to plan and execute machining operations.
  • Operate precision machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment to shape and finish metal components.
  • Perform precise measurements and inspections using various measuring instruments to ensure adherence to tight tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with tools and dies, making necessary adjustments or repairs to maintain optimal performance.
  • Maintain and sharpen cutting tools and dies to ensure efficiency and prolong their lifespan.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to provide input on design feasibility and manufacturing improvements.
  • Adhere to strict safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven experience in tool and die making, including blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties for tooling.
  • Experience with CNC machining and programming for tool and die fabrication is a plus.
  • Ability to perform precision measurements and use various metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting and repair.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with CNC machining and programming
  • - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
  • - Knowledge of heat treatment processes
