Office Profile:Within the School of Health and Human Sciences, healthcare administration encompasses the following academic programs of the university: MHA, MPH, and HCM. Functions included in the overall departmental operation include management of faculty and staff personnel, curriculum oversight, student support, recruitment, and academic advising for certain programs.
Role:Provide assistance and support to the Program Director and academic advising to all of the students in the MPH, MHA, and HCM programs. All activities of this position are to make a contribution to the fulfillment of the mission of the university and the School of Health and Human Sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:
Assumes management responsibilities in the Program Director's absence
Assist Program Director with maintaining specialized accreditations (CAHME and CEPH)
- Gathering, entering, and analyzing data
- Writing reports
- Maintaining accurate records
- Attending training to stay abreast of the latest requirements
- Preparing for and participating in site visits
Academic advising for MHA and MPH
- Provide educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses, and determining appropriate education solutions for different types of students
- Follow through and track the advancement of students
- Assist students in course registration
- Provide counseling for students working with difficult courses or life challenges that may interrupt degree completion
- Provide written documentation upon request
- Transfer necessary documents to different departments, schools, or districts upon request
- Effectively communicate institutional standards for graduation
- Maintain current census and student records
Coordinating schedules and providing support to our traditional undergraduate students in the healthcare management major and business administration major (healthcare management emphasis)
Assist Program Director with:
- Coordinating course schedules
- Updating 4-year plan
- Course preparation
- Training new faculty
- Identifying and engaging new students
- Recruiting for major
Program evaluation and strategic planning of current and future programs
Participating in recruiting, vetting, and onboarding new faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff
Assisting Program Director in building and maintaining community partnerships
- MHA Advisory Board
- MPH Advisory Board
- All programs - identifying and forging partnerships with academic institutions and healthcare organizations for recruiting and internship/capstone opportunities
Assisting Program Director with course preparation (i.e. Canvas prep, instructor prep, book adoptions)
Participating in continuous quality improvement for MPH, MHA, and HCM, and university initiatives
Overseeing ePortfolios for MHA and MPH programs
- Creating and maintaining program templates
- Updating and distributing templates and guides
- Training students, faculty, and staff
- Troubleshooting issues
Assisting with recruiting and orienting new MHA, MPH, and HCM students
Education and/or Experience:BA or equivalent; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Occasionally, direct student employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the university's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training student employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
